Okay, see if you can wrap your head around this: four generations ago there were two brothers who married two sisters. They had children who were cousins—doubly. Among those cousins were my grandmother, Sylvia, and Jen's grandmother, Shirley. That makes our mothers, Faith and Jane, second cousins. (We think) that makes us second cousins once removed and our kids either third cousins or second cousins twice removed. Either way, pretty cool, right?
Jen and I really came into each others' lives as adults and she is another example of how the experience of motherhood can connect women instantly. Here, though, we have the additional tie of family that bonds us.
Jen is upbeat and kind and she has had a load of crap handed to her this year. Makes me wonder about why bad things happen to good people.
